Spinal Manipulations
This is also known as the “Adjustment”. The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, a fall, automobile accident, or through repetitive stresses such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the individual. Manipulation or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness and allowing tissues to heal.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation Therapy
Often referred to as EMS, it is used to accomplish a number of different goals such as decreasing muscle spasm, pain relief, and re-strengthening damaged muscles. EMS is most often used in conjunction with other therapies and uses small self-adhering patches to allow for proper electrical conduction targeting injured muscle tissues.

Rehabilitative/ Stabilization Exercises
Often after joint or muscular damage has occurred from injury, re-strengthening/stabilization exercises of surrounding muscles are needed to prevent further damage. This also helps to support and protect the damaged area which allows for proper healing. If exercise therapy is needed for your condition the Chiropractic Physician will instruct you on how to perform the appropriate exercises for your injury, and likely send you with exercises that can be performed on a regular basis within the comfort of your home.

Ultrasound Therapy
This therapy uses ultrasonic waves to penetrate deep into tissues providing vibratory therapy, warming tissues and increasing blood flow. This helps with breaking up adhesions, in turn decreasing muscle spasms and pain.

Heat/Cold Therapy
After an acute injury ice therapy is recommended to decrease inflammation and pain associated with tissue damage. While moist heat therapy is most commonly used to relax tight and sore muscles and increase circulation for treatments of chronic or non-acute injuries and may be used in conjunction with other therapies. Dr. Jones will determine which approach is more appropriate for your condition.
